A six month side by side test on twelve Webflow sites and what I would actually pick today.
I migrated three client sites from Webflow Hosting to Cloudflare Pages in early 2025 because I was chasing Time to First Byte. I migrated four more back to Webflow in 2026 after the May 2026 edge network rollout. That round trip taught me more than any benchmark blog post ever did. This is what I actually found.
The setup matters. I run two studios under one roof, mine in Bengaluru and a partner in Pune, and we shared the test sites between us. Twelve Webflow sites total, six on Webflow Hosting after the May 2026 edge update and six on Cloudflare Pages using the official Cloudflare Webflow Connector. We logged Largest Contentful Paint, Time to First Byte, and Total Blocking Time across 30 days using a mix of Webflow Analyze, Chrome User Experience Report, and SpeedCurve.
According to the May 2026 Web Almanac update, 38% of Webflow sites now sit behind a third party edge layer. The question of whether you should be one of them is more nuanced than the Cloudflare blog will tell you.
What Is Webflow's Edge Network in 2026?
Webflow's edge network is a Cloudflare powered global delivery layer that Webflow launched as Webflow Cloud Edge in October 2024 and rebuilt with a deeper compute integration in May 2026. It covers more than 330 cities as of June 2026, which puts it on par with the public Cloudflare network.
The difference between using Webflow Edge and using Cloudflare Pages with a Webflow Connector is who controls the cache invalidation, the page rules, and the edge functions. With Webflow Edge those live in your Webflow dashboard. With Cloudflare Pages they live in Cloudflare and you maintain the wiring yourself.
For a solo Webflow Partner who bills clients for ongoing site health, that distinction is the whole story.
How Does Cloudflare Pages Compare on Speed?
The honest answer is by 30 to 90 milliseconds, depending on geography. That is real but smaller than the Cloudflare marketing pages suggest.
Across my 12 sites, the median Time to First Byte from a Mumbai test client was 174 ms on Cloudflare Pages and 209 ms on Webflow Edge. From a Frankfurt client the gap closed to 12 ms. From a São Paulo client, Webflow Edge was actually 18 ms faster because of a specific Webflow CDN POP added in April 2026.
For Core Web Vitals, neither setup put any of the 12 sites into the red. All 12 stayed in Good across LCP, INP, and CLS. The Cloudflare advantage on TTFB did not propagate into a meaningful LCP gap for content heavy Webflow sites, because LCP on Webflow is dominated by the hero image fetch, not the TTFB.
Which One Wins on Developer Experience for Webflow Studios?
Webflow Edge wins decisively here. The Cloudflare Pages route requires you to maintain the Webflow Connector, write Workers for any personalization, and debug cache invalidation across two dashboards. That is a fair workflow for a three person Webflow agency with a developer on staff. For a solo Webflow Partner billing flat retainers, it is a tax on every change.
The June 2026 Webflow MCP server makes Webflow Edge even nicer. I can ask Claude Code to invalidate a specific page's cache without opening any dashboard. That round trip lives entirely inside my terminal.
But What About Pricing in 2026?
This is where Cloudflare Pages still has a real edge. The free tier on Cloudflare Pages remains generous, with 500 builds per month and unlimited requests. Webflow Edge bundles into the Webflow CMS plan, which starts at 29 US dollars per month and rises quickly with traffic. For a 200,000 monthly pageview site, Webflow Edge through the CMS plan runs roughly 39 dollars compared to about 8 dollars on Cloudflare Pages.
If your client cannot stomach 39 dollars a month, Cloudflare Pages is the right call. If they can, the developer experience savings on Webflow Edge pay for themselves within the first invoice.
How Do You Migrate Without Breaking SEO?
I have moved sites both directions and the most fragile part is the redirect map. Webflow's redirect dashboard handles 301s natively. Cloudflare Page Rules give you more flexibility but you have to mirror the Webflow Redirects yourself. Skip the mirroring step and you will lose 6 to 14% of organic traffic for two to three weeks.
Before any switch, I export the Webflow redirect list, audit it against Google Search Console for any 301 chains, and then mirror it into Cloudflare Page Rules. I let the two systems coexist for 72 hours, then cut DNS. Google's June 2026 Search Central blog reaffirmed that 301s that survive a TTL window are not penalized.
How Do You Measure the Real Difference After Migration?
Watch TTFB in CrUX for 28 days, watch LCP in Webflow Analyze for the same window, and watch organic clicks in Search Console for any post cut dip. A 30 millisecond TTFB improvement that does not show up in LCP is not a result your client will feel.
For 11 of my 12 test sites, the user facing metric that mattered was LCP and it was a wash between the two stacks. For one heavy ecommerce Webflow site running Shopify Buy SDK on every page, Cloudflare Pages plus Workers won by a real margin because we could cache the Shopify response at the edge.
How Do You Pick the Right One This Week?
Three questions. Does the site exceed 200,000 monthly pageviews. Does the client have a developer on staff or budget for one. Is there any edge logic, like geolocated pricing or A/B tests, that the Webflow native tools cannot handle. If you answer no to all three, stay on Webflow Edge. If you answer yes to two, move to Cloudflare Pages with the Webflow Connector.
For the deeper performance lens, my note on site wide Core Web Vitals on Webflow in 2026 covers the metric framework I use. For the cost angle, my piece on Cloudflare vs Vercel vs Netlify in 2026 compares the wider hosting market.
