How should I handle feedback that goes against good practice?
You handle it by explaining the tradeoff, then respecting that it is their business. When a client asks for something I believe will hurt them, like burying the main call to action or cramming five fonts onto one page, I say so clearly and give my reasoning. Then I let them decide with full information.
My job is to advise honestly, not to win every argument. Sometimes I explain why a change may lower conversions and the client still wants it, and that is their right. What I never do is stay silent.
